About

Sarah Vanasse Miles is an oil painter whose work is shaped by a background in philosophy and ethics. She earned her Master’s degree in Social Justice and Ethics from the Iliff School of Theology, bringing a sustained engagement with history, morality, and human resilience into her practice.

Working outside of formal studio training, Miles draws on art history, religious narrative, and contemporary scientific thought to construct paintings that feel both familiar and unsettled. Influenced by the visual language of historic art and contemporary visual culture, her work reimagines inherited stories within modern psychological and cultural frameworks.

Her paintings invite slow looking and holding tension. Her use of values and textures lends itself to contemplations on belief and doubt, and clarity and ambiguity.
